Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns have been
considered the gold standard for the repair of damaged teeth. PFM crowns
have good mechanical properties, satisfactory esthetic results, and an
acceptable biological quality needed for periodontal health. However, PFM
crowns have some limitations that may limit their use.
What material is used
in PFM crown?
Porcelain
fused to metal crowns, also known simply as PFM crowns, are fabricated with
a metal-alloy interior and a porcelain exterior. This allows them
to have the strength of metal crowns combined with the aesthetics of porcelain
crowns.
