PRP treatment for hair loss is effective for both men and women and has been shown to deliver excellent outcomes.
Who is ideal candidate for PRP hair treatment?
PRP therapy may not be the most effective course of treatment for every patient. But PRP therapy is an option you should definitely discuss with your hair loss physician if you
- Are in the early stages of hair loss
- Have areas of “weak quality” hair growth on your scalp, where functioning hair follicles can still be observed
- Have small areas of alopecia areata
PRP Procedure
First blood will be drawn from your arm. Then, your blood is put into a centrifuge. A centrifuge is an advanced machine that rapidly spins to separate fluids of different densities.
After the centrifuge spins for about 10 minutes, your blood will be separated into three distinct components. The component at the top is platelet-poor plasma.
The middle component is platelet-rich plasma, which is what will be used to restore your hair. The component that settles at the bottom of the tube are your red cells.
Using a syringe, we will draw the platelet-rich plasma up. Then, we will inject it into the areas of your scalp that require increased hair growth. After two to three months, you will start to notice an improvement in hair volume.
